HP have released the HP ENVY 15″ and HP ENVY 13″. These are based on the “Voodoo ENVY legacy”. The 13″ Laptop is a powerhouse, supporting Radeon 4330 graphics, and a beautiful screen with impressive colors (82% color gamut) and brightness (410 nit).
The ENVY 13″ is almost more Air than Pro, at .8-inches thin and 3.74 pounds. (The Air is .76 inches thick and weighs 3 pounds.) Its screen, framed by the same style glossy black bezel as the unibody MacBook family, is absolutely stunning.
The extended battery for the small laptop also packs a whopping 7 hour battery life, this is a pretty good. The HP ENVY weighs in at only 3.74 pounds, the laptop also features a magnesium frame, coated with matte textured aluminium. The only bad thing about HP’s small notebook, is that the touchpad is glass, with no buttons to distinguish between left and right click. With zoom, rotate and scroll features also controlled by the touchpad, perhaps the inclusion of buttons would have been a better idea.
The HP ENVY 15″, costs about $100 more and sports a Core i7, dual SSDs, as well as a Radeon 4830 card. The larger screen is a little less bright than the 13″, but it’s not too big a concern. The battery life for the 15″ is understandably quite a bit less, but HP has decided to include an extended battery device with the laptop as well. Preloaded with Windows 7, with an October release date, prices start at around $1699 for the 13″ and $1799 for the 15″.
