What would I like for Christmas on the iPhone?

What do all iPhone users want this Christmas? A new stand? A new mount? A new charger? NOPE! I’ll tell you what we want……A Multitasking iPhone!

It’s something that’s on all our wish lists this Christmas and Ocean Observations released a new “What If” video that shows what the iPhone could be capable of if we had some cool features that would be possible with multitasking built into the iPhone OS.

Multitasking capabilities have always appeared in other smart phones and it’s just a matter of time before Apple decide to open it up. To start with we didn’t have any push notification, now we have push notification for lost of applications. Likewise we didn’t have any SatNav from the start, now we do. So it’s only fitting for Apple to open it up gradually and possibly fully over time.

“Our idea is to present the running apps together with the rest of your app icons on the home screen, instead of hiding them behind long pressing some unrelated key. All running apps have a miniature representation in a cover flow at the bottom of the screen. To make room for this, each home screen page will have one less row of icons and the dock is removed completely. But since the running apps often will equal your favourites, they will still be easily accessible.”

They also created a video on what a new home screen could look like…

    Ha Ha, oh my…

    Poor devils.

    • All good things come to those who wait……and wait……and wait…….and wait……and wait……ooooh! :)

  2. Maybe…

But I was also partially laughing at how they thought taking up a third of the screen all the time would be a good idea, rather than have a button-hold function to bring up the task-switcher.
