Many people have asked us whether it is possible to turn off the menu beeps whilst using CoPilot. For some people the beeps are not a problem and it’s something you really get used to but if you’re in a quiet place, you might not want a menu beep to keep sounding and you may not want to change the volume on the iPhone or put it into mute mode. Once again ALK have listened to customer requests and in the latest version 8.0.0.417 this feature is now made available as an option to turn it off.

Likewise something else that CoPilot customers have requested is the ability to mute CoPilot so CoPilot doesn’t provide any audible instructions whilst navigating. This can be good if you really want to listen to your MP3′s and don’t want to be disturbed by CoPilot telling you to turn left at the next road but still want CoPilot to still navigate you to your destination.

Muting Copilot seems to be the only option if you have music playing in the background – so far I’ve found that the voice prompts are generally much louder than the average music level. Voice prompt volume control feature request?

The problem is on an iPhone you don’t have a sound mixer like you might on the PC or a MAC. So there’s no way to independently control the iPod music volume over other volume on the device.
By default with satnav software you want loud voices so that you can hear them whilst driving in car, e.g. when you have a radio on or have the windows down.
For me I find the CoPilot pre-recorded audio voice is about 10% higher than most of my music, and that for me is about right, as you want to hear the voice instructions over the music just not massively louder. However, if I listen to podcasts and use CoPilot then the volume on the podcasts are a lot lower than regular music, so you will find the volume level of CoPilot audio maybe 50% higher than the podcast volume. Likewise some music can be recorded in different audio levels, so it really depends on what level your music was recorded at.

GPS Drive can adjust prompt volume in relation to iphone volume. I really need this feature to make this work.
