Apparently Navigon have updated their iPhone application to v1.3 to include two new In-App Purchase options
- Traffic Live
- UK Postal Codes
The new software will soon be available on the App Store for Europe and several regions: Benelux, British Isles, DACH, Eastern Europe, France, en Nordics.
I’m not currently seeing it available on the UK App Store for the EU region. Strange that Navigon are not providing it yet for the UK App as this would be the most important region to provide UK Postcodes for. If these are to purchase, then this won’t go down well with UK customers having to purchase 7 digit UK Postcodes. This is something CoPilot Live 8 has had free out of the box since release and CoPilot Live 8 is cheaper than Navigon.
Traffic Live gives you the possibility to ask for realtime traffic-information and the option to recalculate your route directly. In the first few weeks Traffic Live will cost €19,99 and after that it will go up to €24,99. You can also purchase the option to navigate by UK postal codes. Both options are available in the European version.

I just had pop up to update navigon for free in uk from apple store which I did. When I opened the Navigon message displyed about new features Live updates and Postcoder availabe Under Function Extra. When I checked under Extras it said No Extra Functions Available. I’m not sure if it’s a problem with my download only or if it’s meant to for all UK customers?

Interesting John. Can you now geocode a full 7 digit UK postcode? Maybe Navigon have buckled and offered the postcode for free on the UK version of data? For EU version it’s still not available (e.g. you cannot geocode a 7 digit postcode in the updated version 1.2.0) and there’s no optiona vailable for Function Extras. This looks to be a real oversight from Navigon for UK customers. Maybe the EU version still needs to be approved.

You’re not alone there, John. I found exactly the same thing when I upgraded to version 1.3.

Seems it’s only available for those that purchased the UK only version. I have the full Europe version and no full postcodes or traffic is available to even purchase.

The UK market always seem to be treated as the last to get the latest apps , from multi national US manufacturers. when it comes to the latest innovations, as if we are a third world consumer like Zimbabwe instead of one of the worlds biggest consumers. what a fucking joke
