Do you protect your iPhone / iPod / PDA screen?

I’ve tried hundreds of different screen protectors (okay well maybe not hundreds), but a lot and I have never found a perfect screen protector. Why?

Well, some have been sticky protectors which completely ruin your display. Others are anti-static, and no matter how well you apply them and use an applicator there’s always (ALWAYS) some piece of dirt or dust that gets between the protector and screen and creates a bubble effect.

No worry, just take the screen protector off, re-clean the screen and re-apply? Now you’ve got rid of that annoying bubble, but wait, there’s now another bubble that appears in a different area of the screen.

So once you have it near perfect (and I have never got a screen protector 100% perfect), it always looks like you’ve used cellotape around the edge of the device, you can now use your device. The problem is, the screen protector then affects the brightness trying to cut down on anti-glare, which is great for outdoors in the sun, but dims the screen slightly. Secondly dragging your finger across the screen feels like you’re dragging it across a sticky window. Thirdly the touch screen doesn’t respond as well.

So for me, no matter how many screen protectors I try, I just pull them off. My advice for anyone in a similar boat as me, is just to get a good case and just be careful of what you do with your device.

Have you ever had a screen protector that applied well and didn’t show any bubbles or feel different than the actual device screen?
