There’s a number of new applications coming out for the iPhone that emulate the need for listening to soothing sounds like thunder, rain, all the elements. There’s a new one called Thundergod available for the iPhone.
You can listen to a raging storm, rain forest, or one of 5 other environments, listening to nature at its most spectacular. You can listen and let your mind drift off, consider the state of the universe, or just fall asleep in a soft rain using the built in sleep timer.
Thundergod allows for a special equalization curve if you are using earphones like the ones Apple includes, and it is quite effective. Thundergod is produced by Holographic Audio Theater. It’s not cheap at $9.99 / £5.99 for 5 different sounds and to be honest I think you’d find Ambiance must better and cheaper at this rate.
The main different though between Thundergod and Ambiance is the sounds are not short repeating loops, but something like a long concert that has a beginning, a middle and a conclusion. The Thor one is pretty good as it has the most dramatic and attention grabbing sounds, probably not for full relaxation, but for stimulation. If relaxation is what you want, there are sonic environments included for that as well.
Thundergod is available at the App Store for £5.99 / $9.99
