NAVTEQ renders junctions in 3D

NAVTEQ who are one of the two largest digital map makers now has complex freeway intersections rendered in 3D. This will be a good addition to the NAVTEQ data sets which will allow NAVTEQ customers to utilise this information and provide more accurate road junctions.

The 3D world NAVTEQ have created comes pretty close to what the driver would see out the windshield including complete road signs, over fly overs.

The idea is to help the drivers out as much as possible specially at unfamiliar and complicated junctions allowing the driver to make the right decision on which lane they should be in which becomes very important.

In North America NAVTEQ have over 2000 of these intersections mapped in 3D view and a total of 8000 around the world.
