O2 charging PAYG iPhone customers to move and you have to wait 12 months!

O2 have announced here that O2 PAYG customers will be able to move to Orange or later to Vodafone if they wish, however there’s a big catch…

Pay Monthly customers
Your iPhone can be unlocked at anytime free of charge. If you unlock your handset and place a non-O2 sim into it, you will still have to honour the remainder of the minimum term on your contract.

iPhone Pay & Go customers
For iPhone on Pay & Go, unlocking can take place 12 months after you’ve bought your iPhone for a one-off £14.69 fee which will be deducted from your airtime balance.

This is not good news, so not only do PAYG customers have to wait 12 months from initial purchase but they then have to pay a £14.69 one-off moving fee.

Sorry O2, but this really sucks! My next phone will be on Orange!

  1. Just like O2 to make something so easy feel like a major task! My next iPhone will most definitely be on orange, I will not waste anymore time & money on a company that charges it’s own users to leave! Way to go O2, bunch of jerks!
