Tesco can’t be beaten for price on the iPhone!

Tesco in the UK have unveiled their pricing plan for the iPhone. The surprising fact is that Tesco’s although they’re going to be re-selling O2 are going to be offering some substantial benefits over other mobile operators.

For Pay Monthly customers, Tesco are going to be offering a £20 per month, 12 month contract.

A 12 month contract is a definite shift back to what we had a few years ago, the current norm is 18 months and 24 months depending on the package you sign up to with mobile operators.

For Pay As You Go, Tesco are going to be offering

On the more expensive, £60 per month 24-month contract, the 8GB iPhone 3G and 16GB iPhone 3GS are offered free, and the 32GB 3GS is only £50, which is a staggering price bearing in mind that for £50 you’re getting the same iPhone as you can get on PAYG for £540!

Noticeably Web & Wi-Fi access including BT Openzone is unlimited across all plans for 12 months and unlimited for 24 months if you go for the £60 per month contract.

This is a smart move that basically allows O2 to reach out to a much greater user base whilst also competing even closer with Orange. So this begs the question, will Orange try to do something similar with T-Mobile seeing that Orange and T-Mobile are merging? Or perhaps maybe something with Asda or another supermarket.
