There seems to be more and more of these what you could class as ‘stalking’ apps appearing on the iPhone. Not that I have anything really to hide, it’s bad enough with other web services like Facebook and Twitter where people can pry into your life, but to be actually able to find out what location you posted it from is in my mind pretty dangerous.
Tweet 360 allows you to not only see a Google map and avatar images of people that posted on Twitter but allows you to easily zoom into there location. Likewise what’s more dangerous is it lets you navigate to it in Augmented Reality mode and tells you which direction and how far away you are from the person’s tweet.
Twitter AR similarly gives augmented reality showing you which direction the tweets have come from and updates when you turn the device.
These class of apps are designed pretty well and have a great sense of technology and fun about them, but if you put them in the hands of a stalker for instance, life could become pretty down for someone.
Are we really losing all sense of our privacy? The iPhone is great for some things but I could see woman getting stalked a whole load more from their boyfriends or just by other people that want to just stalk. Be very aware when you tweet and how much of your life you are actually giving away. Also your boss or company could follow closely where you’re tweeting the most from, and if it’s from the office then that might not be so good. Especially seeing that you can roughly see what time a tweet has been posted.
