When you check out the iTunes App Store you’ll find quite a few Air Hockey Puck games for the iPhone and iPod Touch. Many are pretty good, but Kenn the author of SteamPunk Hockey dropped me a quick note to let me know about his version of the game that takes on some subtle twists.
Deep down SteamPunk Hockey is of course another Air Hockey style of game, but when you look under the hood you can customise it to pretty much anything you want to do. You can change the Hockey Puck to different hockey pucks, make it larger, add obstructions to the table akin to a pinball game where the hockey puck can rebound from, and a really good AI (Artificial Intelligence) computer player that really makes the game hard, even on the easier settings.
StreamPunk Hockey includes the following features:
- Single-player and Two-Player modes
- One-button start-to-play
- Auto-save of level and score: play anytime!
- Twenty-three levels premade
- Endless random levels thereafter
- Four obstacle types: accelerator, bead, barrier and gliding pylon
- Shake to push puck into action
- Option to switch obstacles on and off at will
- Physics-based motion
- Two paddle sizes
- Three disc sizes
- OpenFeint Leaderboards and Achievements!
SteamPunk Hockey is currently free on a promotion, so get it for free whilst you can at the iTunes App Store.
