A lot of buzz is surrounding both the iPhone 4 release and the new HTC Evo. The iPhone 4 will now support multitasking (somewhat), and the HTC Evo is the first Android 4G phone.
The Evo is a nice phone, it’s modeled pretty well on the HTC HD2 which is a big seller even though it still has an older Windows Mobile 6.5 operating system on it. The HTC Evo is a good device because it takes the HTC SenseUI that is extremely popular on the later HTC Android phones like the Legend and the Desire and brings it to a larger screen.

A lot of news sites are asking people which device you would go for? The HTC Evo is a nice phone, but for me Android is still in it’s infancy. It doesn’t have enough apps, let alone quality apps, the 4G will drain the battery quite hard and if I start loading apps with push notifications to my HTC Desire I get about 3-4 hours battery life out of it. You won’t hit into those problems with the iPhone, although both the HTC Evo and iPhone 4 have larger batteries than the iPhone 3GS or HTC Desire.
For me the iPhone 4 is still a clear winner because of the number and quality of apps available on the iPhone, and possibly more because I’ve invested a lot of money in purchasing apps and games from the AppStore. I won’t discount HTC and Android though, the Android devices are becoming better and with HTC’s SenseUI they’re on a clear winner here and that will enable Android phones (at least HTC Android phones) to get closer to Apple. However, with Apple’s Retina display, the antenna built into the case, FaceTime and more, Apple are now starting to increase the gap between Apple iOS and Android.
