Memory-Map for #iPhone and #iPad

I have been using Memory-Map recently to take with me on my walks in the new forest. Memory-Map isn’t new, they’ve been around for over 10 years that I remember on the PC and also on Pocket PC’s where I’ve used the application before. Memory-Map is a great app for the iPhone, you have a number of different Ordnance Survey style maps you can download for walking including OS 1:50,000 Landranger maps and OS 1:25,000 Explorer maps. I have been using the OS 1:25,000 Explorer maps as these give the closest zoom in to your location and allows you to see trails better and also other features on the map. The great thing about Memory-Map is that it doesn’t require a mobile data connection, you download the maps to your iPhone or iPad and that’s it. You then use your GPS Receiver in your device to overlay your position onto the map. Just like any kind of Satellite Navigation application you have varying levels of zoom that you can zoom into the map with.

Memory-Map comes with a free map trial, so if you activate within the trial radius that you want you can get a free OS 1:25,000 map. Outside of this you will need to purchase the full map of the area. To purchase it costs £10.63 and allows you to download up to 750 square kilometers of OS 1:25,000 Explorer topographical maps from anywhere in Great Britain on the iPhone or iPad.
