Not much I can really say about this other than I was playing a video on full screen mode in Safari and then suddenly the video stopped, the screen went black apart from the title bar on the iPad at the top of the screen. Nothing I could do to bring it back including various relaunches of Safari or holding down the home button.
I had to eventually power cycle the iPad to bring it back.

My experience with black screen is all and only safari results in black screen. iPad home page icons are visible, including apps and various web sites. Apps work as normal. Safari and site icons try to load (normal view for a few seconds) then appear as above.
Curiously, the black screens were first noticed with with 38% power remaining as is shown above. Power added up to 40% power with same behavior.
Power cycle cleared Safari black screen problem.
Is Safari black screen problem addressed elsewhere.
