Today I received an Android update for my HTC Desire to take me to 1.21.405.2. It’s a welcome edition and the first for the Desire so I decided to jump at the chance and download it.
I was walked through the standard procedure about it was backing up my data so it’s not lost, it proceeded with the upgrade, I then was greeted with a Congratulations message that I had been upgraded successfully.
Unfortunately although it restored my mail, my apps etc, it completed erased all of my home screens on the device. So I’ve now had to go back and setup all my widgets and shortcuts again. Unfortunately I had a complete exercise of rearranging my home screens last night, so everything I did has been lost.
Why don’t HTC and Google (and Microsoft for that matter) understand that erasing parts of peoples devices are a bad thing? Apple manage to upgrade people successfully and not wipe peoples data or settings. Come on HTC and Google, get your act together!
