I’ve just purchased it for the Mac, I’ve resisted all this time to put Angry Birds onto my MacBook Air as I have it on the iPhone and iPad, but decided finally to succumb to the pressure.

The story for Angry Birds Rio is that birds are kidnapped and caged by evil smugglers and are even angrier! Once the angry birds are released from their captors, they are on a mission to save Blu and Jewel – two rare macaws and stars of the upcoming Fox motion picture, Rio.

Features include:-

There are three version available, Angry Birds Rio for iPhone and iPod touch, Angry Birds Rio HD for iPad and Angry Birds Rio for Mac.

Still no app/game support for iOS for Apple TV, but if/when that is made available by Apple, playing Angry Birds on a large LCD TV screen would be awesome.

Now to be quite honest (and to defend the purchases/money spent) this includes apps for the iPod Touch, iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4 and iPad over several years. It also includes some magazine subscriptions although mostly not as most of mine are through Zinio and don’t go through the iTunes AppStore.

When you look at the price of what you’ve spent so far it really does hit home. Maybe this year I should start pulling back on how much I spend on the AppStore in 2011.

Infinity Blade uses the same engine that Epic Citadel was created in (Unreal) and has the same spectacular scenery. Unfortunately you don’t get to look around and walk around the city like you do in Epic Citadel but you do have full on carnage fights with the local representatives trying to seek revenge on your fathers death.

The game although you can’t move around the scenery is still awesome, the animation of the characters and the plot is amazing. Hopefully some of the screenshots below will show just what the game looks like.

The survey also found that Nintendo and Sony gamers were more likely to pay for their games but that’s probably because there are a lot more free games available for iOS devices. The figures from the survey show that 67% of DS users and 66% of PSP gamers paying for their games, and 45% of iPhone and iPod touch users paying for theirs. iPad owners come in at 32%.

Unfortunately Google are still taking the stance to install apps by default to the main internal memory when purchasing and downloading apps from the Market Place, but you will have the ability once an app or a game is installed to manually move each one to the SD card.

Although this is a welcome move and means you don’t need to jail break or install Apps2SD, it’s still a manual process which isn’t great.

I really hope Google would consider giving you the option when you install to always install to SD but override it to Internal Storage Memory if you so wished. For advanced/technical users this change we’ll see in Froyo isn’t a problem, but for the standard user that might not fully understand the consequences, they would still fill up their internal memory quite quickly whilst installing apps.

1) It has an AppStore which will make it popular
2) It has a huge amount of devices already preloaded with the OS
3) Devices look nice and desirable
4) It has widget support and a lot of free apps which look nice and make it highly attractable

The first three points are a partial guaranteed success and it has been for Apple with the iPhone iOS operating system and phones. The one thing though that are making people flock to Android are the Widget support whether they know what it is or not. People want individuality, and with this it means they want to customize their devices to make it different than any other devices. They also want to make them look snazzy, hip and have a wow factor when they pull out the phone to use it in front of friends.

Widgets are moving the Android platform forward at a good rate along with a lot of free apps, if you take a look at what HTC have done with the Sense UI on the Desire, it looks attractive and at the same time simple to use. These same widgets and free apps could be the downturn for Android over time. Didn’t I previously mention that this is what is accelerating the popularity of the platform? Well with that, just like with the ability to install any kind of app or widget on Windows, virus writers start to manifest along with script kiddies and malware authors. None of the applications or widgets go through any kind of extensive review process when posted to the Android market unlike with the Apple AppStore, so any unscrupulous developer could be doing unscrupulous things over time like harvesting data from the phone, doing things like sending data back with widgets over the internet or potentially making our phone useless. If they do and Google find out then they’ll ban you and you could possibly face legal action as they know where you are when you sign the contract and have other information including bank details. At this moment its not easy to write malicious software or widgets because Google like Apple do put SDK restrictions in place to minimize this, and stop you getting at parts of the operating system you shouldn’t get at. However, you can get to this by rooting your device but its not advisable.

Without any kind of serious monitoring of application submission and more growth in widget creation and free applications, this could ultimately be what causes the downturn for the Android platform.

Apple likewise have become very popular because of its AppStore but Apple do put a lot more stringent checks in place before they allow a program to either go on sale or to be offered free on the AppStore, this although not perfect does also create a hindrance for developers, but his could be what keeps Apple virus, malware and malicious script free.
